Two owners in total and incredibly original. Surely one of the best examples of the Mk1 XR2 available and one for the Blue Oval connoisseur. Ford have never been slow when it comes to developing sporting versions of their standard cars but surprisingly, it took six years before a genuine performance version of their little Fiesta arrived. The transverse-mounted 1,598cc OHV four-cylinder with Weber twin-venturi carburettor generated 84bhp, which in such a lightweight and nimble car, offered 105mph and 0-60 in just 9.3 seconds.
This, remarkably original 1983 Mk1 is a rare survivor – Ziebart-treated from new, single previous lady-owner (for 22 years), plus our Ford-enthusiast vendor for the last 21 years, unrestored and unmodified, a sure way into the rarefied ‘Performance Ford Club’. Supplied with its original 1983 Hendy Ford sales invoice, complete book pack, sunroof carry-bag, and magazine in which it features as the ‘Buyers Guide’ template car.
