1987 was a special one-year-only Testarossa; it was the last model year Ferrari offered center-lock wheels on the Testarossa, and the first year the Testarossa was designed with the lower A-pillar side mirrors. 1987 was the only year both distinct features were available. This car has a set of center locks made by Ferrari. The Testarossa drivetrain was an evolution of the Ferrari Boxer 512i. Its engine used near identical displacements and compression ratio, but, unlike the BB 512i, it has 4-valve cylinder heads finished in red, giving the car its name Testarossa (Red-Head).

The engine is a 4.9-liter, 4,945cc Ferrari flat 12-cylinder with 48 valves in total, lubricated via a dry sump system and a compression ratio of 9.20:1. These combine to provide a maximum torque of 490 Newton-meters, 361 ft/lbs at 4,500 rpm and a maximum power of 291 kilowatts at 6,300 rpm, flowing through the 5-speed manual transmission. The Testarossa has a double-wishbone front and rear suspension systems. Ferrari improved traction by adding 10-inch-wide alloy rear wheels. The car was ordered with Ferrari Corsa Red exterior and Beige leather interior. Delivered new in 1987 to Symbolic Ferrari of La Jolla and spent its entire life in California, until 2015.

This Ferrari has been kept in a climate-controlled collection in Florida. The car just completed a Ferrari-documented full major service, including all belts, fluids, filters, valve cover gaskets and more. This Ferrari is presented with all books, original pouch, tool roll, two hook jack kit and service paperwork. It has wonderful provenance and is exciting to drive. This Testarossa has only averaged just over 1,100 miles per year since new.
