Sharing a name with Ferrari’s 2019 Formula One racecar, the SF90 Stradale represents a massive technical achievement and commemorates the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari. Its arsenal of complex systems operates seamlessly to produce astounding performance and driving dynamics.
The mid-mounted 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 is a development of the type F154 engine found in the F8 Tributo and 488 Pista, and features an increased cylinder bore, revised heads, and revamped intake and exhaust systems. These updates help achieve 769 horsepower, more than enough on its own to excite even the most demanding supercar enthusiasts. But Ferrari elevated the performance further with the addition of a hybrid system which adds another 217 horsepower. At the front, an electric motor powers each wheel and allows torque-vectoring control, while an additional motor at the rear works in conjunction with the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Altogether, the system produces 986 horsepower and allows for sub-three-second runs to 60 mph with a 211-mph top speed.
Equally impressive, the exterior is a sculptural masterpiece of aerodynamic devices, which manipulate airflow to control drag and downforce via several active elements. Inside, the thoroughly high-tech cockpit features a minimalist, fully digital dashboard and touch controls. Ferrari’s characteristic drive-mode selector, in this case redubbed the “eManettino,” not only governs performance parameters as with other Ferraris, but also controls the various states of hybrid-electric operation and power regeneration for the 7.9 kWh lithium-ion battery.
In short, the SF90 Stradale is a landmark Ferrari, a brilliant synergy between traditional paradigms and new advancements, the culmination of nearly a century’s worth of innovation from the famed Italian automaker.
This example was delivered new to Ferrari dealer Gomez Hermanos Kennedy LLC in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It came specified from the factory with nearly $60,000 in options, including its two-tone exterior in custom-ordered Rosso Dino with a black roof over a black leather interior, which features special-order yellow accents that coordinate perfectly with the optional yellow brake calipers on display behind 20-inch forged Diamond wheels.
Other factory options include the suspension lift system, size large carbon fiber racing seats, suspension lifter, the Advanced Front Lighting System (AFS), black ceramic exhaust pipes, Scuderia Ferrari shields, titanium wheel stud bolts, front and rear parking sensors, advanced front driving camera, electrochromic rearview mirror, and Homelink system. With only 667 miles showing on the odometer at cataloguing time, this SF90 Stradale presents in excellent condition throughout and is accompanied by a copy of its original window sticker.
From the very beginning, Enzo Ferrari sought to incorporate racing technology into the road cars that bore his name.
