Even now, the Dodge Viper still evokes ideals of exclusivity. It was an American car that was in its own class with V-10 displacement and an equally aggressive reputation. However, this particular example will stand out even among its peers. This 50th Anniversary Viper was the Black example built around the competition-oriented ACR version of the car. Showing 1,460 miles since new, this car is documented with its window sticker and Hurst Certificate of Authenticity. The Hurst program allowed for certain components to be upgraded.

At the time the most powerful engine available in any manufactured sports model, this ACR showcases the fuel-injected 8.4L/600 HP V-10 engine, which, according to one period road tester, roars like a “fighter jet” when the side exhaust comes on. It is backed by a 6-speed manual transmission that has a special Hurst shifter installed. The SRT engineers spent 1,300 hours on aerodynamics for this release, and the ACR’s adjustable carbon fiber rear wing and front splitter created a balanced front-to-rear downforce totaling over 1,000 pounds at 150 MPH while decreasing drag by 15%. The two-piece lightweight slotted brake rotors make it capable of rapidly slowing from high speeds.

This car is painted in factory Viper Black with gold Hurst stripes and custom Hurst identification. The interior is deluxe, with premium leather bucket seats done in black and tan. The Hurst logo has been embroidered into the seat backs, and there is also a white-faced gauge dash layout, milled shift pattern on the unique shift handle, and an identification plate denoting its Hurst production number. The finishing piece for the Hurst package is a set of gold-trimmed, polished aluminum wheels with Hurst centers and Michelin Pilot Sport tires. When the Viper exited from production, an era ended.

This one-off special edition will let you join a fraternity of owners who still understand what performance is all about.
