A multiple award winner with documented owner history, this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is among the rarest of the midyear second generation, one of only an estimated 16 1967 Corvettes combining the L68 427/400 HP Tri-Power big-block V-8 engine, a Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission and factory air conditioning. Factor in its rare color combination of Code 974 Rally Red paint and a white on black interior and that figure is further reduced; considering that it houses a matching-numbers drivetrain including the Positraction rear end, it might well be the only one of its overall specification.
Produced on November 29, 1966 and delivered by Holler Chevrolet in Winter Park, Florida, it is additionally optioned with a white soft top and color matching auxiliary hard top, power steering, SS power disc brakes and power windows, a Soft Ray tinted windshield, an AM/FM radio and bolt-on finned aluminum wheels wearing 7.75×15 redline tires. It has received a body-off restoration to exacting standards, as proven by its double Bloomington Gold Certification and multiple NCRS Top Flight Awards, including a quite impressive Regional Top Flight score of 98.4.
The car retains most all factory-correct-type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, clear floor mats, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, braided wires, air cleaner, alternator, distributor, hoses, exhaust heat shields, radiator, gas door assembly, Bowtie mirror, glovebox door and T-3 headlights. This eminent repeat award winner enjoys a documented ownership history dating back to the MSO, with copies of previous titles comprising numerous high-profile collectors such as Dal Metzger, Warren Zeitlin, Alan Kaplan, John Danos and Pro Team.
It also comes with confirmation of awards from Bloomington Gold and the National Corvette Restorers Society, the owner’s manual packet with contents, a dealer brochure, a handwritten letter from Corvette historian Noland Adams, a copy of “The Vette Vues Fact Book of the 1963-1967 Sting Ray” autographed by author M.F. Dobbins and a show display board.
