Competition car Unregistered - Authentic racing car - Well-known racing driver and track record - Never modified nor repainted - High performance and ready to race This particular M5, official car of the BMW France network, took part in the Championnat de France Production in 1985. Never restored or modified, it has kept its original paintwork adorned with logos of the team's partners and still has the racing number 6 of the famous "track racer" Marc SOURD on the front doors. The car has raced in all rounds of the 1985 championship, of which it finished second on the Croix en Ternois circuit before winning the Nogaro event at the end of the season.

In the mid-1980s, the Production Championship was the premier racing series of French circuits, offering the public a colourful spectacle and allowing manufacturers to build true prototypes skillfully dressed in a mass-produced model bodywork. Following entries from privateers with models such as 635 coupes and 528 saloons, BMW France decided that it would be the M5 that will wear the colours of the group of dealers for the 1985 season. Specially developed and prepared by the duo Auto Motor Sport for the chassis and PIPO for the engine, this car benefits from the most advanced technical refinements available at the time.

Taken from the legendary BMW M1, its engine is a real racing mechanical beast with its dry sump and its Bosch-Kugelfischer injection and produces 460 hp at 8,400 rpm. In other words, enough to give real thrills to its driver and to enchant sound lovers. It has never been restored and has retained its original features, such as its factory Getrag gearbox with magnesium casing, linked to a self-locking axle of which different gear ratios can allow for a top speed exceeding 300km/h, depending on the circuit. Regularly driven by its current owner who has owned it since 2017, it has been recently serviced by team CMR (invoices).

The car was Peter Auto's guest in the Heritage Touring Cup series during the "10,000 Tours" event on the Paul Ricard circuit in 2019. This car has the technical qualities of a factory car and the unrivalled charm of an automobile in its original condition. Enthusiasts are familiar with the high interest of a 1985 model, since engine and chassis developments have enabled this M5 to become the absolute weapon for saloon car racing.
