1991 Aston Martin Virage Coupé
Chassis no. SCFCAM1S1NBL50347
Engine no. 89/5034
Launched at the International Motor Show in Birmingham in October 1988, the sensational new Virage expressed the muscular styling qualities of its predecessor in a new idiom, managing to be slightly narrower while increasing interior space. The car was no lightweight, but its 330 bhp, delivered by new 32-valve cylinder heads atop a reliable V8, were enough to give it a top speed approaching 260 km/h and a 0–100 km/h time of under 7 seconds.
This automatic-transmission Virage, originally built to Gulf Co-operation Council specification, left the factory finished in Suffolk Red with Magnolia interior piped in red. The vendor bought the car from Aston Workshop in December 2019, when it was described as “a time-warp, very low-mileage example... one of 37 produced by the factory with left-hand drive, with only 27,000 km on the clock from new.” It was stated that the car had been part of an overseas private collection, driven sparingly and kept in dry storage for most of its life.
The accompanying documentation includes copies of the car’s history, an old UK V5C certificate, the 2019 invoice and an expired UK MoT test certificate. It should be noted that the latter records a mileage of only 1,801 km, presumably in error. This car has been on static display and will require servicing before being returned to road use.
Please also note that if the vehicle remains in France, the reduced import VAT rate of 5.5 per cent will be applied to the hammer price. If purchased by a company in the European Community, the VAT amount will be calculated based on the rate applicable in the country concerned. Import duties in other European countries may vary, and an administration fee will be charged to prepare the customs clearance. For any questions regarding customs clearance, please contact the Bonhams Motorcar Department or our approved shippers.

“Launched at the International Motor Show, Birmingham, in October 1988, the sensational new Virage restated its Aston Martin V8 forerunner's muscular looks in the modern idiom, contriving to be slightly narrower yet providing increased interior space. The car was still no lightweight, but with 330bhp on tap courtesy of the trusty V8 engine's new 32-valve top end, was good enough for a top speed approaching 160mph (257km/h) and a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) time of under seven seconds.
This automatic-transmission Virage was originally built to Gulf Co-operation Council specification and left the factory finished in Suffolk Red with red-piped Magnolia trim. The current vendor purchased the car from Aston Workshop in December 2019, at which time it was described as '(a) time-warp, low mileage example... one of only 37 produced as original factory LHD and having covered only 27,000 km from new'. It was also stated that the Aston had formed part of an overseas private collection, been used sparingly and dry stored for much of its life.
Accompanying documentation consists of copies of the Car Record Card, old UK V5C Registration Certificate, the 2019 purchase invoice and a recently expired UK MoT certificate. It should be noted that the latter records the mileage total as 1,801, which may be an error. This lot has been on static display and may require recommissioning prior to road use.
Please note that if this vehicle remains within France the reduced rate of Import VAT at 5.5% will be charged on the hammer price. Import rates to other EU Countries may vary and an administration fee will be charged to prepare the necessary customs clearances.
