Alfa Romeo entered the early 1950s without the resources to field a successor to the dominant Type 158/159 Grand Prix cars of 1946 to 1951. The experimental Disco Volante sports racers were only modestly successful even with the great Fangio at the controls, but the company’s new unibody 1900, aimed at the mass production market, featured brilliant engineering and a stout 1,884CC twin-cam inline-4. The 1900 also served as an excellent starting point for Italy’s top coachbuilders, so even owners of the standard 1900 could identify with the more exotic versions, knowing they shared the same engineering within.

To reach an even larger demographic, Alfa introduced the Giulietta, a more compact car toting a 1,290CC all-aluminum, twin cam inline-4. Unibody construction allowed room for four passengers while shaving weight to just 1,984 pounds. Rather than a saloon, Alfa opened the Giulietta line with the Sprint, a racy closed coupe that gained instant favor with the sporting crowd and remains the essence of the Giulietta experience. This 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Coupe is an example of the faster, more reliable 101 series upgraded with dual side draft Weber carburetors and 5-speed overdrive transmission.

Restored to be driven and enjoyed, it presents very nicely in Light Blue with sharp Black interior trim and offers very good paint, brightwork, interior, glass and engine compartment. Fitted with a period-correct Becker radio, new Alfa-emblem wheel covers and new radial tires, this marvelous Alfa Giulietta Sprint will deliver a wonderful experience and can be displayed with confidence and pride among its contemporaries.
