The Abarth 124 Spider Rally is a competition version of the FIAT 124 Spider homologated in the FIA R-GT category. The example offered here is an authentic rally car with a sporting pedigree, which is also registered for road use. Under the bonnet is the same 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine used in the Alfa Romeo 4C, which produces 296bhp in a car that weighs only 1,050kg. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox with carbon-fibre shift paddles.
This example, chassis number '3', is a former Abarth works car that has been driven by Andrea Nucita, Fabrizio Andolfi, Andrea Modanesi, Alvaro Muniz Mora and Roberto Lumini. In the 2017 season this Abarth scored two victories, two 2nd places, and a 3rd place in the R-GT class. In 2018, the car returned to the Abarth factory, where it was used as a development vehicle for the version in 'gravel' trim, development being entrusted to former World Rally Champion, Alex Fiorio.
Presented in 'gravel' trim, this 124 Spider Rally is currently registered in Italy for road use and its numberplate 'FG399SB' is visible in the action photographs. The Abarth's original white paint remains in good condition and shows only a few signs of past races. The brake discs have been replaced and a mechanical overhaul carried out. In October 2020, the car was certified by Abarth for its mechanical and cosmetic originality. The car comes with its FIA technical passport; registration book and registration plates; Abarth Classiche Certification Book; and an instruction manual.
