Tiny EV Runs Errands for You

Chip Motors has opened preorders for an unusual electric low-speed vehicle that aims to make daily life easier by taking care of simple errands on its own. The compact Chip EV is designed to self-park, return home automatically, and even collect curbside grocery orders, offering a fresh take on personal transportation.
The startup says its optional Chip Go service allows the vehicle to be remotely driven by trained operators whenever the cabin is empty. As a result, the EV can head to a car wash, pick up shopping, or drive back home without its owner behind the wheel.
Built as a street-legal low-speed vehicle, the Chip EV has a top speed of 25 mph and can travel on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less. A 15-kWh battery provides an estimated 100 miles of driving range. Charging is straightforward, with a full recharge possible overnight from a standard household outlet or in around four hours using a Level 2 charger.
Available in four-seat and six-seat versions, the larger model has a footprint similar to a Mini Cooper, while the smaller version is closer in size to a golf cart. Buyers can personalize their vehicle with optional doors, a removable roof, bike and surf racks, off-road tires, and even a hidden TV and speaker system beneath the front hood. Nine exterior colors and a variety of playful graphics are also offered.
Instead of a conventional grille, the front features a pixel display capable of animated expressions, allowing the EV to smile, blink, wink, and interact with passengers in a fun way.
Reservations are now open with a fully refundable $250 deposit. Pricing starts at $15,000 for the four-seat model and $18,000 for the six-seater. Costs for optional accessories and the Chip Go service have not yet been announced, while first deliveries are expected in 2027.
