TESLA'S BIGGER MODEL Y FINALLY ARRIVES IN THE U.S. ⚡

Tesla has officially introduced the long-wheelbase 2027 Model Y L to the American market, giving families a larger electric SUV to fill the gap left by the discontinued Model X. Designed with practicality in mind, the stretched Model Y offers significantly more passenger room and cargo capacity while keeping the familiar design and technology that made the standard model so popular.
Originally developed for China, the Model Y L features a wheelbase extended by six inches and an overall length increased by seven inches. It's also two inches taller, allowing Tesla to install a genuinely usable third row with seating for six passengers. Unlike the optional third row in the regular Model Y, the extra space makes longer journeys and everyday family use far more comfortable.
The U.S. Launch Series also benefits from wider rear doors and second-row captain's chairs, making access easier and improving comfort for rear-seat passengers. Cargo capacity grows to 89 cubic feet—12 cubic feet more than the standard Model Y—providing extra flexibility for road trips, shopping, or hauling family gear.
Power comes from Tesla's familiar dual-motor all-wheel-drive system paired with an 83-kWh battery pack. The company estimates up to 325 miles of driving range on the standard 19-inch wheels, while choosing the optional 20-inch wheels trims that figure by around five miles. Tesla also claims the larger Model Y is slightly quicker to 60 mph than the Premium version while maintaining the same 3,500-pound towing capacity.
Pricing for the Model Y L Launch Series starts at $63,630, roughly $12,000 more than a comparable standard Model Y. Most of that premium goes toward the larger body, improved third-row usability, and added practicality rather than additional luxury features. Deliveries in the U.S. are expected to begin this fall, giving Tesla buyers a spacious alternative before any future replacement for the Model X arrives.
Would you spend the extra $12,000 for the added space, or would the standard Model Y still be the better value?
