FERRARI'S EV ERA FACES ITS FIRST TEST

Creating an electric Ferrari is a monumental challenge, but persuading loyal enthusiasts to embrace a five-seat electric liftback may be even harder. Following the mixed reaction to the recently revealed Ferrari Luce—the company's first fully electric production model—Ferrari has announced a major leadership change. Effective July 1, 2026, former BMW Italia President Massimiliano Di Silvestre will become Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, succeeding Enrico Galliera after his remarkable 16 years with the company.

Di Silvestre now takes on one of the industry's toughest assignments. Measuring 197.9 inches (5,027 mm) in length, the Luce delivers an impressive 1,035 horsepower (1,049 PS) from its in-house quad-motor powertrain while weighing 4,982 lbs (2,260 kg). Its 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) sprint of just 2.5 seconds rivals elite hypercars, yet its futuristic styling, design direction influenced by Jony Ive, and premium €550,000 ($640,000) price tag sparked immediate debate among enthusiasts and uncertainty in financial markets. By bringing in an experienced executive from Germany's premium automotive sector, Ferrari hopes to combine EV expertise with the exclusivity that has defined the brand for decades.

Can Ferrari's bold electric strategy win over traditional enthusiasts while preserving the identity that made the marque legendary?
