This is not an ordinary G-Class, or even a standard Mercedes-AMG G 65. A chassis-number check confirms that it is a 2018 Mercedes-AMG G 65 Final Edition — one of only 65 examples produced worldwide.

Under the bonnet is a six-litre twin-turbocharged V12 with 24 spark plugs. Its fluid capacities and maintenance requirements belong to a flagship AMG rather than a conventional SUV. As a result, a complete service is both complex and expensive.

According to the dealer estimate dated 4 August 2026, comprehensive servicing for this G 65 in Dubai costs AED 18,202.17 including VAT. The work includes Service B, replacement of all 24 spark plugs, coolant and brake-fluid replacement, automatic transmission servicing, new oil in both axles, and the labour-intensive replacement of two fuel filters requiring removal of the fuel tank. All prices and service items are taken from the workshop estimate.

What Exactly Is This Car?

This is a 2018 Mercedes-AMG G 65 Final Edition based on the classic W463 platform. In the AUTO.AE catalogue, it belongs to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class AMG I (W463) Facelift 3 generation, produced from 2015 to 2018.

The correct generation can be found in the Mercedes-Benz G-Class AMG catalogue on AUTO.AE.

It is important not to confuse this car with the G 63 from the same generation. They may look similar, but the G 65 is a fundamentally different machine.

Its defining feature is the AMG 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12. Its principal specifications include:

  • 621 hp, equivalent to approximately 630 metric horsepower
  • Approximately 1,000 Nm of torque
  • 0–100 km/h in around 5.3 seconds
  • Electronically limited top speed of 230 km/h
  • Seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS automatic transmission
  • Permanent all-wheel drive
  • Low-range transfer case
  • Three sequentially lockable differentials
  • Rigid front and rear axles

Factory specifications for the G 65 can be found in the official 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class brochure.

Why This Is One of the Rarest G-Class Models

Mercedes-AMG produced only 65 examples of the G 65 Final Edition to mark the end of production for the V12-powered G-Class on the classic W463 platform.

The Final Edition received several distinctive features:

  • Obsidian Black Metallic paintwork
  • 21-inch AMG wheels with bronze detailing
  • Silver brake calipers
  • Bronze exterior accents
  • Carbon-fibre interior trim
  • Exclusive leather upholstery
  • Special contrasting interior details

A chassis-number check located the archived RM Sotheby’s auction page for this exact vehicle. According to the auction description, it was delivered new in Abu Dhabi in January 2018, remained in the same collection from new, and displayed just 612 km when catalogued.

The car sold for $269,500, equivalent to approximately AED 989,739 at the dirham’s fixed exchange rate. The history of this exact example can be found in the RM Sotheby’s archive.

AUTO.AE has also published a historical feature about the Mercedes-AMG G 65 Final Edition.

What Do We Know About the Mileage?

The dealer estimate shows the number “1” in the mileage field. However, the archived auction page for this same vehicle recorded 612 km when it was catalogued.

The value shown in the service system may therefore be a temporary or technical entry rather than the vehicle’s actual mileage. To maintain an accurate history, the owner should retain a dated photograph of the instrument cluster, a diagnostic report, and a dealer repair order showing the correct odometer reading.

Mileage discrepancies are particularly undesirable on a collector-grade G 65. A verified odometer reading, original invoices, and a continuous service history have a direct effect on the car’s value.

Where Is This G 65 Serviced?

The estimate was prepared by Gargash Enterprises LLC, the authorised Mercedes-Benz distributor for Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.

The document identifies the Sheikh Zayed II branch. Gargash operates Mercedes-Benz service centres in Al Quoz, Deira, Sharjah, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah. Service information and online booking are available through the official Mercedes-Benz Dubai website.

For a G 65 Final Edition, maintenance by an authorised representative carries additional value. It is not only about the technical work but also about documenting the history of one of only 65 cars produced.

Total Service Cost

The total cost of labour, parts, fluids, and workshop materials before VAT is:

AED 17,335.40

VAT at 5% is:

AED 866.77

The final amount is:

AED 18,202.17 including VAT

The main cost categories before VAT are:

  • Parts: AED 8,349.60
  • Labour: AED 7,743.80
  • Workshop consumables: AED 1,242

This is not a repair following a mechanical failure. It is a comprehensive age-related service based primarily on the car’s age and extended periods in storage.

Service B — AED 3,284.20

The basic Service B package costs AED 3,284.20 before VAT.

It includes:

  • Computerised Quick Test: AED 158.40
  • Service B labour: AED 1,056
  • Inspection and cleaning of both engine air filters: AED 211.20
  • Dust-filter replacement: AED 105.60
  • Cleaning and lubrication of the sliding-roof mechanism: AED 52.80
  • Chassis inspection: AED 105.60
  • Cleaning the evaporator and air-conditioning system: AED 105.60
  • Workshop materials: AED 40
  • Vehicle wash: AED 20
  • Roadside-assistance programme: AED 50
  • Windscreen-cleaning product: AED 15.40
  • Fuel additive: AED 126
  • Filter kits and a sealing ring
  • 10.5 litres of engine oil: AED 543.90

The air-filter inspection and AC-system cleaning are particularly important in Dubai. Fine desert dust can quickly contaminate filters, radiators, and the air-conditioning condenser, even on a car that covers very little mileage.

Replacing 24 Spark Plugs — AED 3,704.70

Spark-plug replacement costs AED 3,704.70 before VAT.

The price includes:

  • Replacement labour: AED 1,531.20
  • 24 spark plugs: AED 1,596
  • Special lubricating grease: AED 577.50

The number of spark plugs is explained by the engine’s design. The G 65 has a 12-cylinder engine with a twin-spark ignition system, giving it two spark plugs per cylinder.

This is one reason why ignition-system maintenance on a G 65 is considerably more expensive than on the V8-powered G 63.

The estimate specifies a replacement interval of 60,000 km or three years. On a car with extremely low mileage, time becomes the more important factor because insulation, electrical contacts, and supporting materials continue to age while the car is stored.

Coolant Replacement — AED 1,032

Coolant replacement costs AED 1,032 before VAT.

The package includes:

  • Labour and a cooling-system leak check: AED 528
  • Ten litres of antifreeze: AED 504

For a six-litre twin-turbo V12 in Dubai, this is one of the most important maintenance procedures. Two turbochargers, a tightly packaged engine bay, and summer temperatures approaching 45–50°C create a substantial thermal load.

In addition to replacing the coolant, the workshop should inspect:

  • The main and auxiliary radiators
  • Cooling-fan operation
  • Coolant hoses and plastic connectors
  • The expansion tank
  • The cooling-system pressure cap
  • Water pumps
  • The thermostat
  • Sand and dust accumulation inside the radiator pack

Even a small reduction in cooling efficiency can lead to rising temperatures in heavy Dubai traffic or during prolonged operation of the air-conditioning system.

Automatic Transmission Service — AED 1,871

Complete automatic transmission servicing costs AED 1,871 before VAT.

It includes:

  • Main transmission oil and filter replacement labour: AED 739.20
  • Additional work for the Start/Stop system: AED 105.60
  • Nine litres of transmission oil: AED 630
  • Transmission oil filter: AED 214.20
  • Seals, bolts, and associated components: AED 182

The G 65 uses a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS automatic transmission. It must handle approximately 1,000 Nm of torque, making the condition of its oil especially important.

During long-term storage, transmission oil continues to age and seals may lose elasticity. After servicing, the workshop should check shift quality, engagement of Drive and Reverse, and the transmission’s adaptation values.

Brake-Fluid Replacement — AED 395.90

Brake-fluid replacement costs AED 395.90 before VAT.

The price includes:

  • Labour: AED 316.80
  • Brake fluid: AED 79.10

The document specifies an annual replacement interval. This is reasonable in Dubai because brake fluid gradually absorbs moisture, while high ambient temperatures place additional demands on the braking system.

On a vehicle that has spent a long time in storage, the brake hoses, dust boots, caliper pistons, and disc surfaces should also be inspected. Brake discs and pads that look visually new do not guarantee that the hydraulic components are in perfect condition.

Front and Rear Axle Oil — AED 1,143.60

Servicing both axles costs AED 1,143.60 before VAT.

The package includes:

  • Front-axle oil replacement: AED 105.60
  • Rear-axle oil replacement: AED 105.60
  • Six litres of oil: AED 835.80
  • Drain plugs, filler plugs, and sealing components: AED 96.60

The G-Class retains its traditional off-road construction with rigid front and rear axles and three differential locks. Even if the car has never been used in the desert, axle oils still deteriorate with age.

After the service, all three differential locks should be tested. On collector cars, the locking mechanisms may remain unused for years, sometimes causing their actuators to operate slowly.

Fuel-Filter Replacement — AED 5,904

The most expensive individual procedure in the estimate is replacement of the fuel filters, costing AED 5,904 before VAT.

The high price is explained by the need to remove the fuel tank to access the filters.

The package includes:

  • Fuel-tank removal and installation: AED 1,953.60
  • Preparation and safe handling of the tank and fuel: AED 158.40
  • Draining and refilling the fuel tank: AED 369.60
  • Additional fuel-filter replacement labour: AED 792
  • Two fuel filters: AED 2,193.80
  • Two sealing rings: AED 61.60
  • Workshop consumables: AED 375

The estimate specifies an interval of 60,000 km or four years for vehicles up to the 2018 model year.

This procedure is particularly appropriate for this car. With such limited use, fuel may have remained in the tank for extended periods while the internal filter elements and seals continued to age.

Why Does a Barely Driven Car Need Such Extensive Maintenance?

Low mileage is often seen as proof of perfect condition. In reality, extended storage creates its own set of risks.

Over time, the following components may deteriorate:

  • Rubber coolant hoses
  • Engine and transmission seals
  • Fuel-system seals
  • The battery
  • Fuel pumps
  • Brake hoses
  • Tyres
  • Auxiliary drive belts
  • Electrical contacts and connectors
  • Differential-lock mechanisms
  • Air-conditioning compressor seals

This is why the estimate is based more on age than mileage. Most major fluids and time-sensitive components are being replaced or serviced.

What Is Not Included in the Estimate?

The document does not separately list:

  • New tyres
  • A replacement battery
  • Auxiliary drive belts
  • Transfer-case servicing
  • Power-steering fluid replacement
  • Air-conditioning refrigerant
  • Deep cleaning of the radiator pack
  • Brake pad or disc replacement
  • Suspension repairs
  • Engine or transmission mounts
  • Wheel alignment
  • A complete paint and body inspection
  • A comprehensive recommissioning inspection after long-term storage

Before the car enters regular use, the owner should request a separate, detailed condition report.

What Requires Special Attention in Dubai?

V12 Cooling

The six-litre twin-turbocharged V12 generates a considerable amount of heat. The radiator pack and AC condenser should be cleaned regularly, ideally with proper access to the spaces between the individual heat exchangers.

Cleaning only the visible outer surface may leave fine sand trapped deeper inside the radiator assembly.

Air Conditioning

The system should cool the cabin consistently both at speed and while idling. Evaporator cleaning is included in the estimate, but refrigerant pressure, compressor performance, fan operation, and vent temperature should be tested separately.

Battery Condition

A collector car should remain connected to an intelligent battery conditioner. Briefly starting the engine does not fully recharge the battery and can create condensation inside the engine and exhaust system.

Tyre Age

Even if the original tyres appear unused, their DOT manufacturing dates must be checked. Tyres older than six or seven years are not suitable for safely operating a 600-plus-horsepower SUV weighing approximately 2.5 tonnes.

The original tyres can be retained separately for historical purposes while a new set is fitted for driving.

Fuel Quality

The vehicle should not remain for long periods with only a small quantity of fuel in the tank. It should be filled with the octane grade specified by Mercedes-AMG, and the same fuel should not be left in storage for several years.

Regular Driving

The G 65 should periodically be brought fully up to temperature on the road. A short stationary engine start is not a substitute for a proper drive that warms the engine, transmission, axles, transfer case, brakes, and tyres.

How Much Are These Cars Worth?

At the time of writing, there was no active listing for an exact G 65 Final Edition in Dubai on AUTO.AE. This is unsurprising because only 65 examples were produced and most remain in private collections.

Listings for regular G 63 models from the same generation are not direct market comparisons, but they provide context for the value of a classic W463 AMG.

For example, a 2018 Mercedes-AMG G 63 with GCC specifications and a stated mileage of 0 km is listed for AED 290,000.

A 2017 Mercedes-AMG G 63 with GCC specifications and 64,000 km is listed for AED 238,000.

All available examples from the classic generation can be found in the G-Class AMG W463 Facelift 3 listings on AUTO.AE.

These prices cannot be directly compared with a G 65 Final Edition. The regular G 63 is a series-production V8 SUV, while the Final Edition is a limited-production V12 collector car with only 65 examples built.

The most meaningful valuation reference for this particular vehicle is its own RM Sotheby’s result: $269,500, or approximately AED 989,739.

Final Verdict

According to the estimate, comprehensive age-related servicing for this Mercedes-AMG G 65 Final Edition at an authorised Mercedes-Benz workshop in Dubai costs AED 18,202.17 including VAT.

The work includes:

  • Service B
  • Computer diagnostics
  • 10.5 litres of engine oil
  • Replacement of 24 spark plugs
  • Ten litres of coolant
  • Seven-speed automatic transmission servicing
  • Brake-fluid replacement
  • New oil in the front and rear axles
  • Replacement of two fuel filters requiring fuel-tank removal
  • Chassis inspection
  • Filter servicing
  • Air-conditioning evaporator cleaning

Considering the car’s collector value, the maintenance cost appears proportionate. More importantly, the work renews fluids and components that continue to age regardless of mileage.

This G 65 is unique not only because of its V12 engine. It is one of 65 Final Edition examples, was delivered new in the UAE, has survived with exceptionally low mileage, and carries a documented international auction history.

For a car of this significance, professional servicing and impeccable documentation are not merely technical necessities — they are essential parts of preserving its collector value.
