Fiat 130B Coupé by Pininfarina, 1973

Chassis No.: 0001293 Engine No.: 0012953 Registration: TGF 456L Gianni Agnelli, Director of Lancia and all round cool guy, ordered a Fiat 130 shooting brake as his company car. The advanced (and prize-winning) lines penned by Paolo Martin of Pininfarina were admired globally especially when combined with equally advanced suspension geometry in the form of four-wheel independent suspension, to wit, Macpherson struts all-round and torsion bars front and coil springs rear. This rare right hand drive ‘B’ version benefits from significant refinements over the earlier ‘A’ version in the form of dashboard redesign, advanced fibre-optic internal lighting and more power. Both ‘Motor’ and ‘Autocar’ journalists agreed that, 'seldom have we encountered such excellent handling in a car of this size'. Described as in good condition by the current vendor, it has been stripped and repainted in recent years by one of its previous owners, the noted motoring journalist, Martin Buckley of Classic & Sports Car through Cotswold Classic Car Restorations. Supplied with a stainless steel exhaust as well as numerous spare parts including headlights, fabric, new radiator, four wheels and much more. With an extensive history file, this elegant sporting tourer is offered without reserve. https://www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/?lot=8048&au=69

    Fiat 130 Coupé Auto, 1973

Chassis No.: 130BC0002658 Registration: VHJ 593L Sold £15,282 | Sold Fiat was never really noted for building large luxury cars so the 130 range was quite a departure compared to their wonderful compact cars. The Coupé, based on the same platform as the saloon, was introduced in March 1971 having been designed by Paolo Martin of Pininfarina, who also manufactured the car. With a unique interior design and stunning looks, it was acclaimed by road testers of the day as the enlarged Lampredi designed 3235cc V6 provided very good performance and the handling was excellent. With only 4000 Coupés produced they are very rare cars but the left hand drive examples are especially regarded having generally been owned in hotter climates and therefore avoiding the ravages of the UK roads and weather. This lovely example is presented in silver metallic with very rare, red full leather interior which is in very good condition. The car was imported into the UK in 2011 and then recommissioned with circa £12,000 spent on it. On the road, this Fiat has a real presence being quite a large car and still manages to entertain the driver as only the Italians can do with road-holding years ahead of its time. Its 3.2 litre engine is smooth and provides plenty of performance for good touring or country road driving. This is surely one of the best examples of this rare Italian marque on the market today. https://www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/?lot=5794&au=45

    Fiat 130 Pininfarina Coupé, 1974

Chassis No.: 130BC0003254 Engine No.: Not known Registration: SRM 106M One of two large Coupés styled by Pininfarina in the 1970’s, the other being the Rolls-Royce Camargue, the Fiat 130 Coupé was arguably the more successful design. Based on the 130 saloon that had appeared two years previously, Fiat’s flagship model was introduced in 1971. A two-door four-seater, the 130 Coupé used only the larger 3.2-litre version of the saloon’s twin-overhead-cam V6 engine. Borg Warner three-speed automatic or a ZF five-speed manual gearbox were the transmission options, while power assistance for the steering came as standard. Top speed of this elegant and luxurious Gran Turismo was 190km/h (manual) or 185km/h (auto). Production of the 130 Coupé ended in 1977. Enzo Ferrari famously had the use of one at the time as his official company car, endorsing the model for Fiat. This fabulous example of this much sought after model is presented in silver with grey cloth interior. It is powered by the glorious sounding Lampredi developed Ferrari esque 3200 V6 engine mated to an Borg Warner automatic transmission, which produces a great ‘howl’ when out on the open road. It comes with its original press release pack, refurbished magnesium wheels, recent tyres, re-trimmed boot area and a new exhaust system. These cars were just under £60,000 in today’s money and recently tipped by veteran motoring journalist Quentin Wilson as “where the smart money is going right now”. https://www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/?lot=8559&au=10
