The accumulator plate in Chrysler 45RFE, 545RFE, 65RFE, 66RFE and 68RFE units is weak and not held securely enough to withstand the impact of the accumulator pistons. The OE plate flexes, causing the screws to loosen and break. Sonnax accumulator cover plate kits are an upgrade over the OE plate and allow salvage of valve bodies with damaged plates. The patented plates are made of thicker steel and have three additional screw holes to hold the plate more securely.
