The original owner purchased the car new at Frontier Ford in Anacortes, WA, and then it was shipped to Shelby American's Las Vegas factory for conversion. Every Shelby performance option in the program was added during the build, in addition to the standard package of cosmetic options. With 32,069 actual miles and an investment of over $50,000 in the build, this Shelby Focus comes with full documentation, including its Window Sticker showing its original MSRP of $30,000 from Ford and a 7-page $23,000 invoice from Shelby American. The short-lived 2013-2014 Shelby Focus ST program at Shelby American grew out of Carroll Shelby's well-known love for adding more power to small cars. The stock Focus ST's Eco-boosted 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine came from the factory with 252 crank horsepower. With the modifications made at the Shelby American factory, the JSTuned engine now turns 278hp at the wheels and is backed by a 6-speed manual transmission. The Wilwood brake package added by Shelby scrubs off the speed with slotted and cross-drilled rotors and 6-piston calipers fitted on custom 18” wheels. The added fully adjustable coilover suspension by Eibach greatly improved the handling of the vehicle at speed. This car is a twin in appearance to the prototype model introduced by Shelby American at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Joan Whitney Payson Museum, Long Beach Museum of Art, Princeton Art Museum, PS 1, Norton Museum, Palm Beach Photographic Center and in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History, Bibliotheque Nationale Paris and the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum, London. His biography for his pioneering efforts is included in "Who's Who," "Who's Who in the East," "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in American Art," and "Who's Who in the World." Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Gartel taught Andy Warhol how to use the Amiga Computer, when he got the commission to do the cover of Debbie Harry's (Blondie) album cover. Gartel went to School of Visual Arts and associated with fellow student, graffiti artist Keith Haring, where he earned his BFA degree majoring in Graphics. Gartel went to CW Post College going for his MA in photography studying under Arthur Liepzig. Gartel started his electronic career working side by side with Nam June Paik at Media Study/Buffalo in upstate New York in 1975. Gartel had many associations with musicians such as Debbie Harry (Blondie) Sid Vicious (Sex Pistols), Stiv Bators (Dead Boys) Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls) Ace Frehley (Kiss) and Wendy O Williams (Plasmatics). Recently, Gartel has created artwork for such Pop Culture stars such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
