The 612 was Ferrari’s second all-aluminium vehicle, preceded by the 360 Modena. The lightweight aluminum coachwork is welded to an underlying aluminum spaceframe constructed of aluminum extrusions and castings developed in collaboration with Alcoa. Given its sophisticated design and engineering, the 612 chassis also provided the foundation of the 599 GTB. Sharing its engine with the 575 Superamerica, the 612 Scaglietti is powered by a potent 5.7L quad-cam 48-valve V-12 engine with an 11:1 compression ratio, competition-type dry-sump lubrication and Bosch Motronic 7 engine management.
