Chassis No.: DM27G9D211272 • Exterior: Green • Interior: Tan • Body: Convertible • 1 of 573 Polara 500 Convertibles produced in 1969 • 383 CI V-8 engine • Automatic transmission • Power steering • Power brakes • Dark Green with Tan leather interior • Split bench seat • Factory Super-Lite option • Power windows • Power convertible top with boot • A01 light group • Tinted windshield • Solid State AM radio • Styled road wheels When automotive styling comes to mind, there were many options in the late 1960s. For just 573 buyers that year, an order went into Dodge for a Polara 500 convertible. On this full-size C-body model, the 500 code meant some of the best possible accessories and trim, and this car is no exception. The sheet-metal design was extensively reworked this model year, a preview of the fuselage styling trends of the 1970s, and it shared a good deal with the even more exclusive Monaco. Under the hood on this car is the 383 CI V-8 big-block engine, covered in its blue engine paint, with the factory air cleaner and cast exhaust manifolds intact. A factory-style electronic ignition is also present. For moving the car around, a TorqueFlite automatic transmission does the job. Premium suspension options included both power steering and power brakes, working with Chrysler’s legendary torsion-bar and leaf-spring components. The car was ordered with the rare $50.00 factory Super-Lite option, a separate quartz-halogen lamp placed into the grille that was designed to not blind oncoming drivers. The body is painted Dark Green with a beautifully matched tan leather interior. On this convertible, the layout includes a split front bench seat, factory power windows, the power convertible top with boot and A01 light group. A Solid State AM radio is in the dash, and there is also a tinted windshield. Outside, this car has special Polara 500 moldings along the rocker panels, twin outside chrome mirrors, trapezoidal tail lamps and dual chrome exhaust tips. Rather than standard hubcaps, the crowning touch was the selection of styled road wheels, which roll on blackwall tires for a classic look. More conventionally sized Mopar convertibles nearly always rate at a premium, and this is a beautifully conditioned full-size big-block convertible with excellent optioning inside and out. It presents a grand opportunity to own a unique expression from this era of Dodge production. https://www.mecum.com/lots/357345/1969-dodge-polara-500-convertible/
