This 1942 Willys Americar custom coupe is equipped with new Edelbrock carburetors that feed the polished BDS 671 blower atop the 350ci V8 Chevrolet small-block engine. This engine features a custom oil pan oil cooler, Air Flow Research aluminum heads with roller rockers, Edelbrock valve covers, a polished water pump, air conditioning pump and a chrome-plated alternator. Stainless-steel headers attached to a heavy-gauge stainless-steel exhaust are connected to the engine for exhaust flow.
Bolted to the engine is a T56 6-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch, a balanced aluminum driveshaft, shortened 9-inch Ford posi-traction rear end and chrome 4-link suspension, 4-wheel coilovers and 4-wheel disc brakes. This coupe rides on Halibrand wheels with knock-off spinners and Hoosier tires out back. The all-steel body retains features such as the original glass headlight covers, hood air vent, passenger-side door lock cylinder, stainless-steel trunk latch with the sliding key cylinder cover, trunk-mounted light and plate mount and stainless-steel body side trim.
The front and rear bumper bracket openings remain, along with front fender seam welting and original door hinges. Other features include a stainless-steel fuel tank and custom electric fuel pump, filter and pressure gauge package. This coupe features a custom-built chassis that is painted body color and includes tubular control arms, a sway bar and rack & pinion steering. Custom features include a polished brake clutch and gas pedal assembly, and remote reservoir system, with a custom-built chrome plated firewall cover plate with the recesses painted. The interior features the all-steel dash with Americar trim plate, stainless-steel trim package and a custom gauge package.
The custom tan leather upholstery interior with Corvette power seats was installed, along with a Lecarra steering wheel, chrome tilt steering column, custom door pull handles, power windows, hood release, parking brake, power hood vent, custom carpet and floor mats. The inner trunk lid and side panels are upholstered, and the floor of the trunk is carpeted to match the interior.
