The NASCAR Car of Tomorrow (COT) was a change driven by several factors, safety being paramount. Offered here is the 2010 NASCAR COT of Ronnie Hopkins/Michael Waltrip Racing, a Toyota Camry Cup Series vehicle that combined Gen5 and Gen6 chassis and vehicle technology. Lettered up for period sponsors and named driver, this car is now set up for participation in road-race SVRA, SCCA or as a track day car, and will be sold on a Bill of Sale. Honors include an appearance at The Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in 2019 and, more recently, Best Appearing Car in 2023 at The Villages Car Show.
This race-bred Camry here has been rebuilt nose-to-tail and sorted out after an “encounter with the wall.” For power, a Chevrolet V-8 crate engine from Jegs rated at 500 HP is now under the hood, though it wears custom TRD valve covers. This mill looks the part, and those braided lines and cowl-induction air cleaner are not for show only, with the Holley 4-barrel carburetor atop a high spacer to fit into the functional cowl scoop. There is an Accusump oiling system, dual MSD ignition layouts and a Boom Tube exhaust. Behind the crank is a Tildon clutch for starting and a clutchless 4-speed Mid Valley race transmission.
Brembo brakes and a multi-angle rear shock layout complete it, and this includes a belt-driven pump on the differential. As noted, the body retains its race day paint, complete with a carbon-fiber front end, rapid-fill fuel opening for the ATL fuel cell, rocker area ground effects, and rear spoiler. The spartan interior shows off an ISP “Joie of Seating” full containment seat, Pro Comp instruments and Quick Car large diameter tach, quick-release steering wheel, and a full cage structure. Looking for something unique? Here’s an opportunity to own a piece of transitional circle-track racing technology. *Sold on a Bill of Sale
