This example is an extremely rare X-code car ordered new by Canadian race car driver Peter Thomson of Thomson-Reuters fame. Given Thomson's special connections to the Porsche factory, he was able to order the car to his exact specifications through the Porsche Exclusive program. The long list of special order features includes two very unique option codes: XA8 (the special wide rocker panels) and XB7 (the factory air ducts in rear fenders for brake cooling). Both of these features are standard for the '505' slant nose package. However, this car was not equipped with the slant nose front fascia, making it one of very few 'X-code' factory special cars.

Additionally, it was ordered with forged wheels featuring matching Grand Prix White centers, heated seats, limited slip differential, electric sliding sunroof and sport seats, all of which are confirmed on the car's Certificate of Authenticity. This 930 retains its matching-numbers engine and transmission. Adding to the car's collectibility, 1989 is the one and only year that 930s were offered with the G50 5-speed transmission.
