Offered at just 7,970 miles, this 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S is a sensational automobile by any measure, even those standards set by one of the most storied manufacturers in the history of the automobile. The Turbo concept has come a long way since its bold entry into the shaky world market of the mid-‘70s, evolving from a raw-nerved, deliciously unpredictable bad boy to its present incarnation in S trim as the grandest of grand-touring machines, one that inspires confidence all the way up to the outer limits of its performance.
And those limits are lofty indeed: the Turbo S’ twin-turbocharged 3.8L flat-6 engine churns out 580 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque on the strength of unique turbochargers with larger impellers, a new injector design and higher fuel pressure. Porsche’s excellent variable valve timing maximizes power output across the engine’s operating range, working through the paddle-shifted PDK automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive system to produce computer-controlled launches to 60 MPH in a mind-numbing 2.9 seconds. In addition to astonishing acceleration, the 2017 Turbo S is capable of more than 200 MPH, but there is more than raw power at work.
The steering-wheel-mounted drive-mode selector allows the driver to trim the car’s performance to suit road conditions or driving styles, and the Turbo S’ dynamic roll control and carbon-ceramic 4-wheel disc brakes with yellow-painted calipers combine with Pirelli P-Zero tires on light alloy wheels for incredible handling and stopping. Sharply finished in GT Silver Metallic with a Bordeaux Red leather interior, this 2017 Turbo S shows the handsome aesthetic revisions to the 2017 model that included revised front air intakes and LED cornering lights, 3D-effect LED brake lights and a reworked rear deck and spoiler with revised ducting.
