Unleashed in 2015 as a new 2016 model, the already formidable Mercedes-Benz AMG GT was now available in uprated "S" specification, raising the bar with even greater performance than before, with an intimidating exhaust note clearly announcing its intentions. Bred from the many lessons learned in competition by the engineering wizards at Mercedes’ legendary AMG tuning/racing subsidiary, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S delivered 503 factory-rated horsepower from its new AMG-built 4.0L, Bi-Turbo V-8 engine, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Capable of sprinting from rest to 62 MPH(100 km/h) in as little as 3.8 seconds, the new "S" took the fight to Porsche’s 911 variants and continues to deliver an amazing experience with its aerodynamic design and startlingly luxurious and comfortable, yet driver-focused interior. As if all the upgrades for the "S" weren’t quite enough for some buyers, Mercedes-Benz followed with the limited-production Edition 1 model, adding a special aerodynamic kit including a front air splitter, rear spoiler and wider wheel arches, a lighter-weight carbon fiber roof section, black trim for the grille, mirrors, tailpipe and rear diffuser, and specific black 10-spoke light-alloy wheels.
Interior upgrades completed the package, adding sporty sophistication to the potent new AMG supercar. Available from early 2015, the Edition 1 option added approximately $18,000 to the already lofty MSRP of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S. Offered with just 190 miles at the time of writing, this 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG S Edition 1 features AMG’s potent Bi-Turbo 4.0L engine with 503 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque and AMG 7-speed Speedshift DCT transmission. Performance and driving dynamics are brilliant with the AMG dynamic performance exhaust system and AMG adaptive sport suspension.
Finished in Selenite Gray with the Anthracite leather and microsuede interior featuring contrasting red accents, this Edition 1 features AMG exterior night styling and an active rear wing.
