Mercedes' first compact saloon, the 190E was one of the brand's best-selling vehicles with over 1.8 million sold over its 11 year production. Today they increasingly sought-after modern classics, and they hark back to a golden era of timeless Mercedes design and bulletproof build quality. This 1988 example is equipped with the silky smooth 2.6-litre straight-six engine which has been completely stripped and rebuilt (with new gaskets and a new radiator) in 2017. A new Mercedes exhaust has also been fitted from the manifold to the rear, and new fuel pump filters were also replaced in 2018.
The bodywork on this example will need some TLC, however some work has already been undertaken with jacking point corrosion being repaired in 2021. To contrast, the interior is in excellent condition. There is a very detailed history file of the works undertaken by the vendor over the last five years. This is a good, usable example of a classic Mercedes that still offers excellent potential.
