The Maserati 3200 GT was styled by Italdesign whose founder and head, Giorgetto Giugiaro, previously designed, amongst others, the Ghibli, Bora and Merak and so certainly had the pedigree behind him. Sold mainly in Europe, the 3200GT shared the twin-turbo 3.2 litre, V8 featured in the Quattroporte IV and Shamal, revised and tuned to 365bhp. The tail lights consisted of LEDs arranged in the shape of a boomerang. The outer layer of the 'boomerang' provided the brake light, with the inner layer providing the directional indicator. Sadly, the U.S. insisted on bulbs and so, as is so often the way, style made way for bureaucracy. Nevertheless, it went on to be a great success until 2007 with the boomerang rear lights being the more desirable.

The throttle bodies have been upgraded to contactless and refurbished in 2017 with specialists Maserati Shed and recently the car has undergone a £4,000 service from Maserati Shed which included a 6,000 mile service, an MoT test with no advisories a cambelt change and new suspension arms. In 2015 the car benefitted from a brand new clutch and boasts four new Pirelli tyres. Our vendor spent three months searching for the correct 3200 GT and in the last four years he has lavished over £11,000 on her with new brake lines, suspension arms, anti roll bar drop links, a recent ABS ECU and new clutch.
