Basée à Aschaffenburg, en Allemagne, la collection Rosso Bianco de Peter Kaus était une des plus importantes collections de voitures de sport et de course du monde, avant qu'elle ne ferme définitivement ses portes au début des années 2000. Elle se caractérisait par la qualité des modèles qui la constituaient, et la Lancia Appia Zagato de cette vente en faisait partie. Elle changea de mains et fut achetée par le précèdent propriétaire, lors d'une vente aux enchères Zagato en 1992, resté dans les annales, sous le marteau de Me Poulain.
Sa restauration ancienne a bien résisté au temps, avec une peinture rouge ayant gardé un bel éclat et un intérieur très soigné, typique des petites sportives italiennes de cette époque. Sur le tableau de bord le compte-tours est au centre, signe de sportivité, avec son moteur V4 de 1,1 litre poussé ici à 53 ch. Le mécanicien du propriétaire a d'ailleurs révisé la mécanique ainsi que les suspensions il y a quelques années. Il s'agit d'un des derniers dessins de l'Appia Zagato et, dû à Ercole Spada, c'est un des plus séduisants avec ses phares profilés.
C'est un modèle rare, dont la production se situerait autour de 300 exemplaires, et qui se caractérise par sa légèreté (grâce à sa carrosserie en aluminium) et son aérodynamisme, ce qui lui a permis de briller sur les circuits. Aujourd'hui, c'est un petit joyau qui sera accueilli avec bienveillance dans tous les évènements historiques importants. It was characterized by the quality of the models that made it up, and the Lancia Appia Zagato in this sale was one of them. It changed hands and was bought by the previous owner, during a legendary Zagato auction in 1992, under the hammer of Mr Poulain. Its old restoration has stood the test of time, with a beautiful red paintwork and a very neat interior, typical of the small Italian sports cars of this period. On the dashboard, the tachometer is at the center, a sign of sportiness, with its 1.1-litre V4 engine pumped up to 53bhp. The owner's mechanic overhauled the mechanicals and the suspensions a few years ago.
This is one of the last designs of the Appia Zagato and, thanks to Ercole Spada, one of the most attractive with its streamlined headlamps. It is a rare model, whose production would be around 300 units, and it is characterized by its lightness (thanks to its aluminum body) as well as its aerodynamics, which allowed it to do well on the circuits.
