This 1966 Ford GT MK1 Replica by RCR is a high-quality rendition of the original, using parts and componentry that either equals or exceeds the state of the art back in the 1960s. This car is both street-legal and a racer with dead-ringer bodywork, as molds were taken from an original car. The central monocoque—although similar in design—is a TIG-welded aluminum structure that has been built to a higher threshold of lightness and strength. The suspension components mimic the original pieces but are precision CAD/CAM-generated pieces, lending quality control and structural integrity.
The car has been constructed with a 45-percent front and 55-percent rear weight distribution modeled after the original chassis engineering specifications. Not a car for the faint of heart, the Ford SVO 302 CI engine has been dyno tested at 630 HP and has been fitted into a car that weighs a mere 2,350 pounds. The power is transmitted through a 5-speed ZF gearbox, and the car is eligible for competition in either SVRA or SCCA events. It has functional air-conditioning and a heater, allowing it to be comfortably driven on both the track and street in a wide range of climate from cold to extreme heat.
A creation Race Car Replicas (RCR)—an American-based company with a well-established reputation for engineering and quality—this machine has been built to replicate original GT40 Chassis No. 1083, which was once owned and raced by famed Brazilian driver Wilson Fittipaldi, the brother of former Formula 1 World Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi. The car has been recreated in the period-correct livery using the proper paint-code and sponsor decals. This is an opportunity to own an icon of American dominance in international racing that intends to provide the same exhilaration as the original, at a fraction of the price.
