When FFR Fabrication and Repair in San Jose, California, completed the frame-off restoration of this 1970 Ford Bronco in October 2023, its steel body emerged finished in Boxwood Green with Wimbledon White trim and wheels, the overall scene resembling very close to what Ford might have displayed in the showroom when it was new. However, this Bronco blends a high level of modernity with its classic looks. Under the hood, an aluminum four-core radiator looks right at home and helps keep the Ford 5.0L V-8 engine—rated at 450 HP and 380 lb-ft of torque—cool.
The engine is built with a Holley Terminator X fuel injection system, an MSD ignition system, an Edelbrock intake manifold and JBA headers with a custom, MIG-welded exhaust system rounded off with Magnaflow mufflers. A 4R70W 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission with a TCI cast aluminum finned pan backs it up, and sharp eyes will admire the CVF serpentine system. The frame has been powder coated in Hammer Gray and is set with a 9-inch Ford rear end, a New Process transfer case, Rancho Shocks and a 3.5-inch lift kit.
Drivers will appreciate the Flaming River steering column and Sport Brakes with GM cast iron calipers and Wilwood master cylinder, as well as the Dakota Digital gauges nestled into the dashboard and the leather-wrapped Billet Specialties steering wheel inside the custom appointed interior by Wardell Auto Interiors of Santa Clara, California. Fitted with new chrome bumpers, the Bronco is equipped with an optional spare tire carrier, a removable hardtop and Detroit Steel Old School 18-inch wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich All Terrain tires and topped with chrome hubcaps.
