Featuring aggressive and unforgettable Pininfarina-designed, Scaglietti-built bodywork, Ferrari’s 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer (BB) served as Ferrari’s long-awaited midengine challenger to Lamborghini’s Miura and Maserati’s Bora. With styling rooted in Pininfarina’s dramatic P6 concept of 1968 and first shown at Turin as a prototype in 1971, the production 365 GT4 BB debuted at the 1973 Paris Salon with a midmounted 4.4L flat-12 engine derived from the Scuderia’s contemporary Grand Prix Tipo 312 B. A blistering performer even by today’s standards, the BB and successors remain historic as Ferrari’s first 12-cylinder midengine road models. Steady development brought the 512 BB by 1976.
Some 40 years later it remains a ferocious performer with an unforgettable sound emanating from its Weber carburetors and sonorous exhaust. Just 929 examples of the 512 BB were produced from 1975 to 1981. None were officially exported to the United States, where the BB was a “Grey Market” import and then Federalized under the DOT/EPA. Offered with Ferrari Classiche Red Book factory certification and one of 929 produced, this 1979 Ferrari 512 BB features unforgettable Pininfarina design with power delivered by Ferrari’s potent 4.9L flat 12-cylinder engine paired with a gated 5-speed manual transmission and rear transaxle.
Featuring a Rosso Corsa and Nero exterior finish, this BB is enhanced by a Nero (black) interior finish and Daytona-style bucket seats. Other highlights include Veglia gauges, quad exhaust tips and iconic Cromodora wheels.
