This 1969 Hemi Charger Daytona is equipped with its original drivetrain and correct primary and secondary body VIN stamps, and it showcases a concours-level restoration completed by the legendary Roger Gibson and utilizing date-correct, NOS, assembly line parts. An included Dave Wise report further indicates that this car’s restoration was to an OE level. This is for good reason, as more than 10 years were invested in the restoration process. As one of just 70 Daytonas produced for the program that were built with the most legendary engine from Chrysler, this car features original sheet metal and a matching-numbers 426 CI Hemi V-8 engine and matching-numbers A727 TorqueFlite transmission.
Both pieces were designed for performance with heavy-duty engineering throughout. This car further received the A36 Performance Axle Package with its 3.55 Sure Grip differential and power steering among its factory equipment, while ordering the Hemi automatically mandated performance frame and suspension upgrades. The exterior wears correct EV2 Hemi Orange paint, complemented by a black wing and the aero-styling changes mandated only for the A11 Daytona package. Inside are headrest bucket seats and a center console with floor shifter, the A01 Light Group, a Tic-Toc-Tach and 150 MPH speedometer, a three-spoke steering wheel and wood-grain trim.
Of course, the trim outside includes hood pins, A-pillar streamlining and air extractor scoops on the front fenders, plus the deck wing, special rear window and chrome exhaust exits. The orange nosecone and “DAYTONA” stripe lettering blend well with the color-matched steel wheels with Fratzog hubcaps and a set of Goodyear F70-15 Polyglas white-stripe tires. The original fender tag documents this car’s accessories. An investment-level car, this car’s provenance is stellar. Accuracy was clearly the goal of its owner, and the result is visible from any angle. Coupled with its gorgeous color and original driveline, this Charger Daytona is certainly a winner.
