This 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, chassis no. MRM-WC-3, was formerly part of Waltrip Racing. It is said to have been originally a 1990s Darrell Waltrip Tabasco Pontiac that was rebodied as a Monte Carlo for Michael Waltrip. The two brothers are Daytona 500 winners and well-known racing personalities from their regular television appearances in covering the NASCAR series.
This NASCAR runs with a T&L 355-cu. in. 18-degree V-8 engine with Pontiac Racing 18-degree cylinder heads with wide ports (no. 10134363), high-compression/small-combustion chambers with matching manifold with 850-cfm Holley carburetor. The engine is mated to a Tex’s Transmission four-speed manual gearbox featuring a Hurst shifter and Simpson shift boot and is kept cool by a Griffin radiator. The rear end is fitted with 4.56:1 gears with a NASCAR posi-traction unit in which the pump has been removed. Four-wheel disc brakes bring the car to an abrupt halt. The car features a 16:1 ratio steering box and rides on a set of Hoosier racing tires which are mounted on Aero Race wheels.
The interior features a full roll cage with BSCI padding, a Butler Built racing seat with Simpson five-point harness, Simpson window net, as well as an Auto-Meter Sport-Comp II tachometer and Pro-Comp instrumentation. The car is accompanied by an extra set of Goodyear tires.
