When BMW M unveiled the E61 M5 Touring in 2007, it created one of the most remarkable performance estates of the modern era. While not the first or last M5 Touring, with the earlier E34 and the recent G99 also carrying the mantle, the V10-powered E61 remains the most exotic and dramatic of them all, born during BMW’s Formula 1-influenced engineering peak. At its heart lies the extraordinary 5.0 litre naturally aspirated ‘S85’ V10, producing 507bhp at a heady 7,750rpm and 520Nm of torque.
Paired with the seven-speed SMG ‘Drivelogic’ transmission, the result is a driving experience unlike any other estate car, with 0-62mph dispatched in just 4.8 seconds and a theoretical top speed approaching 190mph when unrestricted. It is an engine and drivetrain combination which delivers both drama and precision in equal measure.
This 2007 example is finished in the ever-popular Silver Grey metallic over a black leather interior and is one of just 222 right hand drive cars produced, underlining its rarity and collectability. Having covered 90,400 miles from new, it has clearly been maintained with care and understanding. Significant maintenance has been carried out throughout its life, including a replacement clutch and flywheel at 62,010 miles, an SMG service at approximately 80,000 miles and, most notably, a bare engine recondition in November 2022, reportedly at a cost of £4,200 in parts alone.
The car is accompanied by its original BMW service book, displaying nine stamps, along with a file of supporting invoices from both main dealers and respected BMW specialists.
