Historied coachbuilder Touring Superleggera of Milan promised to complete no more than 19 examples of its ‘Flying Star’—a hand-built, two-door fastback conversion based on the new generation of Bentley Continental introduced at the start of the millennium.

The elegant and practical reimagination of the model prompted the owner of The Curated Collection to order a new convertible Continental GTC via Bentley Belgium in October 2008. The interior was specified with Saffron leather with walnut veneer and equipped with a rear-view camera, two-tone steering wheel, contrast stitching, deep pile carpets, and lumbar-massaging front seats. The following month, a contract was signed with Touring Superleggera for a Shooting Brake conversion that would cost some €343,000 on top of the cost of the base car.

Complete with one-inch-longer doors and rear wings, plus new taillights, the car was painted in a metallic grey hue and finished in late 2009. In the meantime, the consignor had approached several companies to produce a bespoke luggage set that remains with the ‘Flying Star’, which shows only 7,467 kilometres from new at the time of cataloguing. Since its creation, the ‘Flying Star’ has been subject to further work by Clark & Carter Restorations.

A truly bespoke celebration of modern-day coachbuilding that benefits from single ownership, this ‘Flying Star’ would make for a glamorous addition to any luxury-themed collection.

Le carrossier historique Touring Superleggera, de Milan, s'est engagé à ne réaliser que 19 exemplaires de sa "Flying Star" — une conversion de style shooting brake basée sur la nouvelle génération de Bentley Continental dévoilée au début du siècle.

Élégante et pratique, cette nouvelle version du modèle a incité le propriétaire de "The Curated Collection" à passer commande en octobre 2008 d'une Continental GTC cabriolet par le biais de Bentley Belgium. Il était précisé que l'habitacle serait équipé d'une sellerie safran avec surpiqûres apparentes, de garnitures en placage de noyer, d'un volant deux-tons, de moquettes profondes, de sièges avant massant et d'une caméra de recul. Le mois suivant, un contrat a été signé avec Touring Superleggera pour une conversion en "Shooting Brake" dont le coût fixé à quelque 343 000 € s'ajoutait au prix de base de la voiture.

Complète avec des portes et des ailes arrière plus longues et de nouveaux feux arrière, cette voiture sortie des ateliers fin 2009 a reçu une peinture gris métallisé. Entretemps, le propriétaire a approché plusieurs entreprises pour fabriquer un jeu de bagages réalisés sur mesure pour équiper la "Flying Star", dont le compteur n'affichait que 7 467 km au moment de rédiger ce catalogue. Depuis sa naissance, cette "Flying Star" a fait l'objet de travaux supplémentaires par Clark & Carter Restorations.

Véritable hommage à l'art actuel de la carrosserie, n'ayant connu qu'un seul propriétaire depuis l'origine, cette "Flying Star" enrichira magnifiquement toute collection sur le thème du luxe.
