The definitive One-77 was finally presented to the public at the famous Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. Under the eyes of a unanimous jury, it also won the prize in the Concept Cars and Prototypes class. Breathtakingly beautiful, it was designed by Marek Reichman, who had already designed the V8 Vantage (2006) and the DBS V12 (2007). The One-77 was not only of great beauty, it also positioned itself as the most powerful and fastest Aston Martin ever designed. 760 hp, 750 Nm of torque and 220.007 mph, or 354 kmph. All this for a listed price of £1,150,000.
Its long, shapely bonnet, its shortened rear, its sculpted wings and its passenger compartment of great finesse speak the formal language of the Grand Touring in its most noble form. The One-77 was designed as a demonstration of Aston Martin's know-how: its chassis is an unusually rigid full carbon fibre monocoque. This structure is covered in aluminium coachwork, fully handcrafted. It is said that each front wing, made up of a single sheet of aluminium, took a single craftsperson 3 weeks' work each. While a "standard" Aston Martin required 200 hours' assembly, the One-77 required 2,500 hours' labour.
The fittings were also the height of technology at the time: bi-xenon projectors with LED side lights and indicators, LED rear lights, a front spoiler and a rear carbon fibre diffuser, as well as a mobile spoiler.
Under the bonnet, you can admire the exposed carbon structure and front horizontal shock absorbers, taken from racing models. The engine is the in-house 48-valve V12 whose capacity was increased to 7.3 litres. Reworked in depth by Cosworth Engineering, its output is 760 hp (750 bhp) with 750 Nm of torque. The V12 is coupled with an automated manual-shift six-speed gearbox as well as a limited slip differential. When the One-77 went on sale, it took its place as the most powerful naturally aspirated road engine in the world! Cosworth's work notably focused on a dry sump lubrication system, which allowed them to shift the V12 by around 10 cm, thereby lowering the centre of gravity.
This also allowed the design to include a lower, more tapered bonnet. Note that the V12 lies behind the front axle, guaranteeing an ideal weight distribution. The One-77 is not only a mechanical achievement, it is also a joy to drive. It was largely developed on the legendary Nordschleife at the Nürburgring. Assembly of the model started in 2011 in the Gaydon workshops.
The model that we are offering for sale is the first produced by the factory, number 01 of 77 and engine AM77/021. It has a Bronze Pearl configuration with interior Kestrel Tan leather with red contrast stitching. The optional reverse camera, 20-inch wheel rims with 10 polished spokes, gold brake calipers and, in the passenger compartment, rose gold switches, a special option billed at £40,000.
Photocopies of the hand-completed order form as well as the purchase invoice and the original certificate of conformity are in the file. This model, delivered new and registered on 11 February 2011 in Switzerland, has had only one owner, has been stored indoors as part of a major collection, and is today being sold by its first owner. It has very few kilometres on the clock, circa 550 km only. A recommissioning for roadworthiness was carried out by Stratton Motor Company in the UK for the sale.
The sale of chassis no. 01 of the One-77, from a prestigious collection and with such a configuration, is the opportunity to acquire one of the most beautiful hypercars ever produced.
