Abarth, une entreprise à caractère sportif innovante sans égale, étendait ses activités dans le domaine des pots d'échappement et des kits de performance pour les voitures de grandes diffusions – essentiellement des Fiat – puis construisit une série de prototypes aérodynamiques et des voitures de sport en petite quantité dont un grand nombre à carrosserie Zagato.
Peinte de couleur ivoire avec un intérieur gris et bleu, cette Abarth 750 GT Zagato « double bulle » a quitté l'usine en 1958. Selon le vendeur, la voiture a été expédiée immédiatement après aux États-Unis où elle fut engagée dans différentes épreuves, avant de revenir dans son Italie natale dans les années 1990.
Le certificat ASI qui l'accompagne fait état de Giorgio de Chirico, le restaurateur et marchand de pièces détachées Abarth bien connu, comme l'un de ses précédents propriétaires. Ce certificat, daté de 2009, mentionne également que la voiture a été entièrement restaurée à un très haut niveau. Cette charmante petite Abarth a participé à la magnifique course de côte Vernasca Silver Flag en 2000, 2001, 2003 et 2011 ce qui lui vaut le très recherché certificat ASI Targa Oro. L'Abarth à la présentation flatteuse a récemment figuré dans un article du magazine spécialisé italien Automobilismo d'Epoca et mérite une attention particulière.

An innovative concern with a sporting pedigree second to none, Abarth branched out from producing induction and exhaust systems into selling performance kits for - mainly FIAT - production cars, later building a succession of aerodynamically stylish sports prototypes and limited-series production cars, many of which were produced in conjunction with Carrozzeria Zagato.
Strikingly finished in ivory with a grey and blue interior, this 'Double Bubble' Abarth 750 GT Zagato left the factory in 1958. According to the vendor, the car was shipped shortly thereafter to the United States where reportedly it was raced at various venues before returning to its native Italy in the 1990s.
The accompanying ASI certificate records the well-known Abarth spare parts dealer and restorer Giorgio de Chirico as one of its previous owners. Issued in 2009, this certificate also states that the car had been comprehensively restored to an excellent standard. This charming little Abarth has been used on the wonderful Vernasca Silver Flag Hill Climb in 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2011, and comes with the sought-after ASI Targa Oro certificate. Beautifully presented, the Abarth featured recently in an article in the Italian classic car magazine Automobilismo d'Epoca and is worthy of the closest inspection.
