Is This the Future of Range Rover?

JLR has unveiled the Range Rover GT prototype, introducing an entirely new direction for the iconic brand. Rather than following the traditional SUV formula, the GT combines the elevated stance of a crossover with the sleek proportions of a fastback sedan, creating what could become the fifth member of the Range Rover family.
The design blends familiar Range Rover styling with a much lower roofline, giving the prototype a sportier and more aerodynamic appearance. Slim door-mounted mirrors, pronounced shoulder lines, and a coupe-inspired silhouette make it stand out from every other model wearing the Range Rover badge.
Inside, the cabin adopts a clean, minimalist approach. Physical buttons have been kept to a minimum, while sustainable materials replace traditional leather and wood trim. A compact steering wheel, a slim digital instrument cluster, a centrally mounted infotainment screen, and a standard head-up display create a modern yet uncluttered environment. A panoramic glass roof and generous passenger space in both rows reinforce the premium feel.
The GT will ride on JLR's new EMA platform and, at launch, will be offered exclusively with an electric powertrain. While the company has not yet revealed performance figures, battery capacity, or driving range, an all-wheel-drive dual-motor setup is widely expected. JLR has also suggested that a hybrid version could follow in the future.
Importantly, the GT is not replacing any existing Range Rover model. Instead, it expands the lineup into an entirely new segment. More technical details are expected later this year, with the production model scheduled for a full debut in early 2027.
Does the Range Rover GT successfully combine SUV practicality with sedan styling? Is this bold design the future of premium electric vehicles, or does it move too far away from traditional Range Rover DNA? And would you choose this sleek EV over a conventional luxury SUV?
