GiroDisc + Pagid Racing — the Full Track Brake Setup Has Finally Arrived for the Porsche GT3 RS

The full track-focused brake setup has finally arrived for my Porsche GT3 RS 992.
In the photos you can see GiroDisc steel brake rotors and Pagid Racing brake pads, which are being installed on the car today. If everything goes as planned, the car will be ready tomorrow — and tomorrow I’ll be testing them on track.

Now, clearly and properly, here’s what I’m installing and why.
Brake Rotors — GiroDisc
I’m switching from Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes to GiroDisc steel rotors. These are two-piece rotors with an aluminum hat and a replaceable iron friction ring.
Why GiroDisc:
- excellent heat capacity
- consistent performance at high temperatures
- replaceable friction rings, not the entire rotor
- significantly cheaper to maintain compared to Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes
For track use, this is critical. When you drive a lot, brakes are consumables — not museum pieces.
Brake Pads — Pagid Racing
The pads are Pagid Racing — a true track classic. These are proper racing pads, not “track-inspired” street parts.
What Pagid delivers:
- consistent braking lap after lap
- strong performance at extreme temperatures
- predictable and confident pedal feel
- designed to handle serious track abuse
Yes, they produce dust. Yes, they’re noisier. But this is a working tool, not about comfort.
Why This Setup Is Better for Track Use Than Ceramic Brakes
To be clear: Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are excellent. Lightweight, powerful, and great for road use. But on track, there’s one major downside — cost.
On track:
- brake pads are consumables
- brake discs are consumables
- heat and wear are constant
With Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, every track day becomes very expensive. With GiroDisc steel rotors and Pagid Racing pads, you can:
- drive harder without stress
- manage heat properly
- change pads regularly
- stop counting every lap in money
For frequent track days, this is simply a more logical and practical solution.
