As part of the early C107 series, it featured a 3.5-litre V8 engine delivering smooth, confident power. Its distinctive pillarless coupé profile, long hood, and refined chrome accents underscored classic Mercedes craftsmanship. Inside, the 350SLC offered plush materials, advanced comfort for its era, and a balanced driving experience. Today, it remains a sought-after classic known for durability and understated prestige. This Mercedes-Benz 350 SLC was originally registered in November 1972 and is painted in Byzantine Gold coachwork with a contrasting brown leather interior and benefits from a factory sunroof. This classic 70’s coupé has been used by our vendor as his daily driver for the last seven years and he tells us that the car runs superbly. This isn’t surprising as the car has recently benefitted from a £6,000 recommissioning by marque specialists, Roger Edwards of Amersham and has service books showing 20 service stamps. This attractive coupé was featured in an article in Classic Cars magazine in 2012 and a copy of the article is offered with the sale. Also present is a V5C registration document, the original owner’s manual and various bills, receipts and previous MoT test certificates. Chassis No.: 10702422028533 Engine No.: 11798522047221 Registration: DYM 303V • Fully restored example • €6,000 spent on Mercedes-Benz interior • Good service history The R107 and C107 took the chassis components of the mid-size Mercedes-Benz W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the W116 S-Class. The SL version was a two-seat roadster with standard soft and hardtop with optional folding seats for the rear bench. The SLC (C107) derivative was a two-door hardtop coupé with normal rear seats. The SLC is commonly referred to as an 'SL coupé', but in reality it was an S-class coupé replacing the former saloon-based 280/300 SE coupé in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. The SLC was replaced earlier than the SL, in 1981, with a much larger model, the 380 SEC based on the new S Class. Sales in North America began in 1972, with the name 350 SL, but with a larger 4.5 litre, V8 engine and were renamed 450 SL/SLC. First registered on 6th November 1979, the 450 SLC offered here stands out from the crowd. Having benefitted from an extensive restoration over a number of years, the car is now available at a fraction of the restoration cost. A passion project, the car was stripped down, welded where needed and given a full respray in 2018. Over £1,200 was spent having the front and rear bumpers re-chromed, brand new Mercedes-Benz wheels were bought, new tyres were fitted and €6,000 was spent purchasing a new correct Mercedes-Benz interior from renowned Mercedes-Benz parts supplier Klaus Hermann Mayer. As a result, the car presents beautifully and is reported by the vendor to run and drive just as well. Supplied with a V5C registration document, original maintenance book, service book with nine stamps in it with the first five from Normand Ltd of Abbey Road, London and a second service book showing an additional four service stamps taking the service recorded history up to 86,390 miles. With a lovely service history recorded almost all the way to the cars current 93,000 miles and having benefitted from a recent restoration, this wonderful 450 SLC is ready to go.
