The Regera is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a redline at 8,250rpm, paired with three electric motors (two at the rear wheels and one on the crankshaft), producing a combined output of 1,500bhp and 2,000 Nm of torque at 4,100rpm. The car features the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD) system — a patented, single-speed gear solution that couples the engine and the electric motors to the rear axle, replacing the traditional multi-speed transmission, reducing weight and drivetrain drag, with rocket-launch acceleration. As a result, the car is capable of accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, from 0–300 km/h in under 10 seconds and 0-400 km/h in just over 20 seconds – a world-record number. Yet, despite this savage performance, the Regera also offers electric-only propulsion for silent low-speed urban use.
