    Rover P4 110, 1963

    Chassis No.: 76501771A Engine No.: 75601695A Registration: 769 NOK Offered without reserve The Rover P4 series of cars were manufactured from 1949 through to 1964 during which period several models were produced: the Rover 60, 75, 80, 90, 95, 100, 105 and 110 models. Apart from the 60 and 80, the models all had in-line six-cylinder engines with overhead inlet valves and side exhaust valves. Various transmissions were used including either a manual overdrive box or, until 1959, the option of the manual gearbox with a free wheel unit. The bodies were mounted on a separate chassis with independent suspension, by coil springs at the front and semi elliptical leaf springs at the rear. By 1950 the brakes were fully hydraulic with discs at the front becoming standard from 1959. The final member of the P4 family was the P4 95 and 110 series. Introduced in 1962, the car was luxurious with its silky 2.6 litre straight six engine and stopping power via the power assisted Girling brakes. The coachwork featured an alloy bonnet, doors and boot lid with the interior finished in wood and leather. Supplied new on 12th April 1963 by R.H Collier, a Rover dealer in Birmingham, this wonderful 110 with overdrive is presented in Light Grey over Dark Grey coachwork with a contrasting red trim. The car was restored between 1990/1991 and we are informed this included a full respray and chrome replacement, at that stage the interior was left as original but appears in very good condition. Accompanying the car is a history file with a box of miscellaneous information alongside restoration photos and recent invoices for routine work and servicing. This information informs us that the purchaser of the car in 1990 recorded the mileage 68,412, approx. 30,000 miles less than the current mileage some 35 years later (thus averaging less than 1,000 miles per year). Our vendor states the engine runs very well with good pulling power and the overdrive works well. Purchased privately for a sum of £16,250 in early 2023 from a Rover enthusiast, this represents a very good example of the P4 and as such viewing is recommended. A former ‘Drivers Guild’ members vehicle, lovingly garage stored and is presented in very good mechanical order. Featured in Classic car weekly April 1999, this 2.6 litre straight-six P4 retains its factory interior, headlining, door cards, carpets and complete toolkit. We are informed the car is structurally solid without rust or any problematic aluminium corrosion. This rare, unrestored, garage kept example is in condition that is certainly commensurate with such low mileage and goes a long way in confirming the odometer reading of just 22,310 miles.     Rover P4 105R, 1958

    Chassis No.: 615800579 Engine No.: 615800718 Registration: VGH 972 The all new, post war Rover appeared during the autumn of 1949 and became one of the most readily recognised and fondly remembered cars of the era, the stately P4 with its column gearshift and 'gentlemen's club' interior would prove an immense success for the Solihull firm, remaining in production until 1964. The pinnacle of the range, offered by Rover, was the 'R' and 'S' models that boasted the most power and easily topped the magic 100mph. Introduced in 1956, the P4 105R and P4 105S had a high compression cylinder head and twin SU carburettors that boosted power to a very respectable 108bhp. The 'R' and 'S' designations referred to their transmissions, the 105R featured a Roverdrive automatic transmission while the 105S had a four-speed manual with overdrive. Both were luxuriously equipped and, are in high demand amongst marque fans. This Rover P4 105R was first registered in south west London during 1958 and was purchased by the current P4 enthusiast/owner in the spring of 2016 with a view of carrying out sympathetic aesthetic improvements/restoration. Today, this Rover 105R presents very well; its coachwork, finished in Sage Green, is all in excellent order and is complimented by the, also excellent, chromework. The interior boasts lovely green leather and African walnut woodwork, both having been lightly restored that results in an office that certainly invites you in. A set of ‘Quick Fit’ (the highly respected specialists in classic car passenger restraints) seat belts compliment the leather whilst, for the modern day user, a satellite navigation connection is fitted. Other works have included a new torque converter, battery, four radial tyres, replacement steering wheel and four new door rubbers. A large history file accompanies this Rover and includes all the supporting invoices, a Rover P4 Guild archivist record of owners (back to 1983), a letter from Rover to potential P4 customers and a UK V5 registration document. Rover motor cars of this period are considered to be built to a quality akin to other quality marques such as Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
