    Plymouth Satellite Convertible, 1965

Chassis No.: R451144906 Auction: Fran and Ron Green's Verde Classics Museum Collection 2013 Auction date: February 23, 2013 Lot No.: S70 $33,000 | Sold • Body: Convertible • 426 Street Wedge • Automatic transmission • Bucket seats with console • Dual exhaust • Spinner wheel covers • Black interior The sporty Satellite was the top model in Plymouth’s midsize Belvedere lineup for 1965, offering buyers clean styling by Elwood Engel, who had been called upon to revitalize Chrysler’s stodgy early-Sixties image. The sleeker new car arrived to good reviews that welcomed its clean features, upscale bucket seat interior and an array of V-8 engines. Only 1,860 Satellite convertibles were built, making them quite rare today, especially in the case of this sharp-looking R45 convertible that runs under the power of a race-proven 426/365 HP Wedge V-8 engine fitted with a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust and mated to a Torqueflite 3-speed automatic. Finished in Copper Metallic paint, this rare Satellite convertible also features a Black soft top, a Black interior with center console with shifter and tachometer, power steering, full-size spinner wheel covers and whitewall tires. https://www.mecum.com/lots/146960/1965-plymouth-satellite-convertible/

    Plymouth Satellite Hardtop, 1969

Chassis No.: RH23F9E131668 Auction: Monterey 2025 Auction date: August 16, 2025 Lot No.: S63 $66,000 | Sold • Odometer: 1,847 miles • Engine: V-8 • Transmission: Manual • Exterior: Snakeskin Green • Interior: Black • Body: Hardtop • 6.1L fuel-injected Hemi V-8 engine • Faux “Coyote Duster” air cleaner • Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission • Dynotech driveshaft • Snakeskin Green exterior with Black accents • Black interior • ‘Cuda-style steering wheel • Bolstered front bucket seats • Rear bench seat • Black lap belts • 150-MPH speedometer, achometer, fuel level, voltage and coolant temperature gauges • Magnum Force front suspension • 4-link rear suspension The slogan “Plymouth Makes It” was once used for marketing the line of performance vehicles released by the Chrysler brand back in the 1960s. The car offered here is far more than what emerged off the assembly line back in the day, however, as its carefully selected group of upgrades has made this 1969 Plymouth Satellite into a street-modified car of the highest order. In fact, the original Road Runner was based on this exact same model, which led to the development of the “budget muscle car.” In this instance, the builder chose to turn the page forward when it came to the powertrain, as a fuel-injected 6.1L Hemi V-8 engine is now nestled down into the engine bay and topped with a faux “Coyote Duster” oval air cleaner. The engine features a functional conical air cleaner, a serpentine belt drive, a Champion radiator with electric fan, and TTI headers feeding dual exhaust. This is followed by a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission, a Dynotech driveshaft and a Dana differential. Suspension changes include a Magnum Force front suspension conversion, a 4-link rear suspension, a raked stance and Wilwood power disc brakes. The exterior has been painted Snakeskin Green, offset with black accents and the notorious hood scoop. This is complemented by the black interior that uses bolstered front bucket seats, a rear bench seat, a wood-grain-tone Cuda-style steering wheel, and black lap belts. There is a cupholder worked into the floor next to the Pistol Grip shifter, plus a rebuilt 1969 GTX-type dash with 150 MPH speedometer and OEM-type tachometer. Further interior highlights include fuel, voltage and coolant temperature gauges, an updated audio system, and restored dash and door panel upholstery. Other outside touches include the car’s big bumpers and grille, “HEMI” front fender emblems, rear panel blackout and side exhaust trumpets. In keeping with its other modern changes, this car wears 17-inch Year One Rallye wheels and a set of Sumitomo HTR ZIII tires. The Road Runner was a big seller in 1969, and this Satellite makes it with performance that is one step beyond. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1152378/1969-plymouth-satellite-hardtop/
