    Ferrari 456 GT, 1995

Chassis No.: ZFFSP44A8S0100981 • Exterior: Black • Interior: Tan • 5.5L/436 HP V-12 engine • Rated at 398 lb-ft of torque • 6-speed gated manual transmission • Finished in Black with Tan interior • Original window sticker • Original tool kit • Original owner’s manuals • One of only 1,435 produced • Pininfarina design • First owner maintained from 1995-2020 with detailed records • Extensive service history and records • Recent extensive service performed at a cost of $20,124 • Service was completed less than 500 miles ago • Must be sold to an out of state resident or licensed dealer Ferrari’s introduction of the 456 GT at the 1992 Paris Auto Show demonstrated a new mindset in Maranello, a change noted by Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo when he stated that “It has been 20 years since we had a car like this at Ferrari.” Autocar Magazine shed further light on Montezemolo’s words in its 1993 road test, observing that “The 456 GT is more refined, more comfortable and a sight more sophisticated than any car ever built at Maranello … Whether you look at it, sit in it or drive it, it all adds up to one simple fact: The 456 is the greatest grand tourer the world has ever seen.” The first true Ferrari 2+2 since the 1985-89 412, the 456 sported all-aluminum coachwork welded to a tube-steel chassis using an innovative new process (one of many advances developed by Ferrari in that period for mating materials of conflicting molecular structures). Styling represented a high point in Ferrari’s fruitful partnership with Pininfarina, with balance and refinement displacing the flamboyance of the 456’s midengined contemporaries, while introducing a new undertray design that unobtrusively kept the 456 welded to the road at high speeds enabled by its all-new V-12 powerplant. Displacing 5.5 liters and boasting double overhead cams, sequential fuel injection, variable-length intake runners and tuned exhaust, this all-aluminum V-12 packed plenty of punch, delivering in U.S. models 436 HP at 6,250 RPM and 398 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 RPM, figures that one would expect of a solid racing engine of the period. Unequal-length wishbone suspension with a choice of three settings from electronically controlled shocks, large vented disc brakes, sophisticated power rack-and-pinion steering and a 6-speed manual gearbox translated the 456’s ample power into extremely gratifying performance as only Ferrari can deliver, and that lovely gated shifter remained to remind the driver of its Prancing Horse heritage. Tastefully finished in Nero with a tan leather interior, this graceful 1995 456 GT Berlinetta is one of only 1,435 produced. It has been driven fewer than 500 miles since a recent extensive service was performed at a documented cost of $20,124, and it is accompanied by extensive service history and records kept by its original owner from 1995 to 2020. https://www.mecum.com/lots/520480/1995-ferrari-456-gt/

    Ferrari 456 GTA, 1997

Chassis No.: ZFFWP50A9V0107391 • Exterior: Black • Interior: Tan • 5.5L DOHC V-12 engine • Factory-rated at 436 HP • Automatic transmission • Pininfarina design • Black exterior • Tan interior • Power steering • Power brakes • Power windows • Air conditioning • One of 1,271 GTAs produced • Service book stamped for 30,000 mile service in 2014 • Carfax and Autocheck are available Ferrari’s 456 GT and GTA continued the line of 2-plus-2 Grand Touring berlinettas that began with the 1960 250 GTE coupe. Like its progenitor, the 456 is more a two-seat GT with comfortable room for two children or another pair of patient adults, but its true purpose is to transport its passengers in the most refined environment offered in a sporting automobile with a Ferrari badge. There is none of the edginess found in the Testarossa or the F-series mid-engine fleet, but instead a calm demeanor that hides the 456 GTA’s ability to perform as well as, if not better than, any red-blooded GT. The styling, while restrained, is unmistakably Ferrari, with an eggcrate grille and raised-hip fastback profile giving away its Pininfarina origins. The “A” in GTA stands, of course, for “automatic,” as in the 4-speed automatic operated by a traditional metal-knobbed shifter. Its performance is anything but traditional. Integrated into the rear-mounted differential, it is one of the first automatics to use artificial intelligence to read the driver’s inputs and adjust its shift points and firmness to match. At speed, the torque converter hands its duties over to a mechanical clutch to lock out slippage, an important feature when the GTA’s 5.5L 4-valve DOHC V-12 delivers all of its 436 horses and almost 400 lb-ft of torque. One of 1,271 456 Ferraris produced between 1992 and 2003, this 1997 GTA presents in the handsome pairing of Black with a Tan leather interior. Roomy and brimming with Italian elegance, it incorporates power steering and power four-wheel disc brakes, power windows and air conditioning. Now showing 29,000 miles, it received its 30,000-mile service in 2014. Those are the practical details. The most important fact is that it is a Ferrari, and it will take you places no other car can go. https://www.mecum.com/lots/219761/1997-ferrari-456-gta/
