That particular genie having been let out of the bottle, Pontiac Motor Division responded by stuffing the GTO with a new 455 CI engine rated at 360 HP at 4,300 RPM and a whopping 500 lb/ft of torque that was all in at just 2,700 RPM. Dubbed the 455 HO, it propelled the already potent GTO to 60 MPH in 6.6 seconds and scored mid-14-second quarter mile times while maintaining its luxury side with bold new styling and one of the nicest interiors ever seen in a muscle car.
