My Updated Review of Girodisc Brakes on the Porsche GT3 RS 992

I’d like to share once again my honest, real-world feedback on the brake system I installed on my Porsche GT3 RS — Girodisc.
Originally, the car was equipped with factory Porsche carbon-ceramic brakes. They are excellent, no doubt about that. However, I deliberately replaced them with steel Girodisc rotors, primarily because of intensive track use.
So far, I’ve driven around 1,000 kilometers on track with this setup, which is roughly 200 laps. And now I can say very clearly and with full confidence: on track, the Girodisc setup performs noticeably better than the stock Porsche carbon-ceramic system.
Here’s what I feel in real driving: • the brakes are much more aggressive, • the braking distance is shorter, • the pedal feel is clear and precise, with no sponginess, • the system remains extremely consistent under load.
At the moment, evening temperatures are around 22–24°C, and under these conditions the brakes do not overheat at all. I’ve tested different driving patterns: • sometimes 3 hot laps + 1 cool-down lap, • sometimes 5 hot laps + 1 cool-down lap.
In both scenarios, there was no sign of brake fade — the brakes stayed strong and predictable throughout the session.
Another important point: during the same period, I drove a friend’s Porsche GT3 RS that still has factory carbon-ceramic brakes. After driving both cars back-to-back, the difference is immediately noticeable. And I can say this honestly and without hesitation: on track, Girodisc brakes feel better.
And of course, there’s the cost factor. Steel brakes are significantly cheaper to run than carbon-ceramics. For anyone who regularly drives on track, this is a huge advantage — pads and discs are consumables, and with Girodisc, the operating costs make much more sense.
The conclusion is simple: if you actually drive your Porsche GT3 RS on track, rather than just keeping it in a garage, Girodisc is an excellent solution. I can confidently recommend this brake setup to anyone who wants consistency, performance, and reasonable running costs.
