The 1988 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit is a striking example of British luxury and craftsmanship, representing an era when Rolls-Royce aimed to combine opulence with an updated design. Introduced in 1980, the Silver Spirit was produced until 1999 and succeeded the iconic Silver Shadow. With classic, clean lines and a long, elegant profile, the Silver Spirit is unmistakably Rolls-Royce in its styling, while also introducing modern touches that reflected the aesthetic trends of the late 20th century. Under the bonnet, the 1988 Silver Spirit featured the Rolls-Royce 6.75-litre V8 engine, delivering smooth, understated power that prioritised comfort over raw performance.
The engine was paired with a GM-sourced Turbo Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission, which was specially tuned to suit Rolls-Royce's high standards of refinement and ride quality. Although Rolls-Royce never officially published horsepower figures, this engine was known for delivering ample torque, allowing the car to cruise with ease and composure at any speed. The Silver Spirit’s luxurious interior is perhaps its most defining feature. Every detail, from the Connolly leather seats to the meticulously crafted wood veneers and plush carpets, exudes luxury. Originally registered on 1st September 1988, having been supplied new by franchised dealer Weybridge Automobiles, this Silver Spirit is finished in the delightful colour combination of Windsor Blue with Mushroom hide leather interior, carpets and over rugs, all of which are in superb condition. The impressive file for this Rolls-Royce contains correspondence from the supplying dealer including original delivery note, every MoT from 1992, numerous invoices, the original book pack and the service booklet which shows 15 stamps from the supplying Rolls-Royce dealer Weybridge Automobiles.
This extremely low mileage Rolls-Royce has had just two former keepers and is offered to auction with a UK V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate. This Rolls-Royce must be one of the lowest mileage examples available. The 1988 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit is appreciated by collectors and enthusiasts for its timeless design and smooth ride.
