Produced from 2003 to 2004, the type-996 GT3 RS expanded on the performance credentials of the 996-generation GT3 by offering more power while its driving dynamics were further honed for the racetrack. The RS moniker itself pays homage to motorsport, an abbreviation of the German word
Rennsport
or “racing sport” in English. Offered solely in Carrera White, the model’s side decals and wheels (in either red or blue) gave a nod to the first road-going Porsche to carry the RS moniker: the 911 Carrera 2.7 RS.
The example offered here was delivered new via the Monegasque car dealer, Porsche Groupe Segond, with handover to its first owner noted on 12 August 2004. Finished in the model’s signature shade of Carrera White, the car gained Red side script to show the GT3 RS model name complemented by colour-matching wheels. The Porsche was specified with optional extras including air conditioning, Bi-Xenon headlights, and its roll cage painted white, further to the standard equipment offered with the GT3 RS. The car is accompanied by a copy of its original purchase invoice, further to its factory-issued books and manuals in a Porsche folio. The odometer reads just 9,184 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.
Produite en 2003 et 2004, la 996 GT3 RS présentait des performances encore supérieures à celles de la GT3 de génération 996 grâce à une puissance accrue et à des caractéristiques dynamiques encore mieux adaptées à la piste. L'appellation RS, qui correspond à "Rennsport" [compétition] en allemand, rend elle-même hommage au sport automobile. Avec une peinture unique Carrera White, les autocollants latéraux et les jantes (de teinte rouge ou bleue) se réclamaient de la première Porsche de route portant l'appellation RS : la 911 Carrera 2.7 RS.
L'exemplaire que nous proposons a été livré neuf par l'intermédiaire du Centre Porsche de Monaco (Groupe Segond) à son premier propriétaire le 12 août 2004. Avec sa peinture caractéristique Carrera White, cette voiture comporte l'inscription latérale rouge rappelant l'appellation GT3 RS, complétée par des jantes de même couleur. Cette Porsche a été commandée avec plusieurs options comme l'air conditionné, des phares Bi-Xenon, un arceau-cage de couleur blanche, en plus de l'équipement standard de la GT3 RS. Elle est accompagnée d'une copie de sa facture d'achat d'origine, ainsi que de ses carnets et manuels fournis par l'usine dans une pochette Porsche. Le compteur affichait 9 184 km au moment de rédiger ce catalogue.
