Offered in factory-fresh condition with a mere 260 original miles, this 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 will stir the senses of any dedicated Porsche enthusiast and make converts of those not yet exposed to the charms of this storied marque. After disappointing some purists with the decision to offer only the 7-speed automatic in earlier GT3 models, Porsche brought back its 6-speed manual gearbox as a no-cost option for 2018, a choice that puts the driver in closer touch with the car’s formidable 4.0L flat-6 engine. With an aluminum block forming the basic unit, the naturally aspirated 4.0L powerplant was completely reworked for 2018.
In addition to dry-sump oiling, a stronger crank, wider bearings, iron-coated cylinders and titanium connecting rods, it features new aluminum heads and a two-stage variable intake system feeding direct fuel injection. The result: 500 HP at 8,250 RPM and 339 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 RPM driving the electronically controlled limited-slip differential and delivering the GT3 to 60 MPH in a scant 3.4 seconds. To haul it down from speeds up to its 198 MPH maximum, this GT3 sports the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes with yellow-painted calipers clamping on drilled and vented rotors.
The GT3’s highly developed aerodynamics and dynamic chassis tuning work hand in hand to produce stunning handling and grip at any speed. The combination produces excellent pitch, roll and directional stability and extraordinary steering precision. Toe angle, camber and anti-roll bars can also be adjusted individually for the track, allowing the driver to take full advantage of the Michelin Pilot Sport tires mounted on Silver 20-inch forged-alloy center-lock wheels. A red stripe delineates the steering wheel’s 12-o’clock position in modern racing style, but long-distance comfort is also built into this GT3 in the form of leather and Alcantara upholstery and the optional Chrono Package.
This is the 911 that will make an enthusiast’s heart beat like never before.
