This 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS has only 285 original miles and comes from the esteemed Michael Fux Collection. Introduced some 43 years after the unveiling of the iconic 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, this 2016 GT3 RS embodies the same ethos of its progenitor with its motorsports-derived drivetrain, minimalist weight, advanced aerodynamics and sublime driving experience. The GT3 is the latest iteration of the genre and most certainly considered state-of-the-art in the current 911 range. The 4.0L engine—based on the latest 9A1 architecture—is a horizontally opposed 6-cylinder producing 500 HP in naturally aspirated tune.
Power is transmitted through Porsche’s highly effective PDK 7-speed automatic capable of upshifting and downshifting gears in mere milliseconds. The body is sourced from the legendary 911 Turbo and selected for its extended fender flares that enable the installation of wide wheels that help give the GT3 RS the same footprint as the mighty and all-conquering Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid hypercar. The vents located in the rear fenders—originally designed to feed the intercoolers on the Turbo—now force feed the air cleaners giving a ram-air induction effect.
The roof is made of sheet magnesium and chosen because it weighs 2.2-pounds less than a CFRP equivalent, thereby lowering the center of gravity by an incremental amount. The front fenders are sculpted from carbon fiber and are half the weight of aluminum. Moreover, vents on the top of the fenders extract unwanted air turbulence from below and help plant the front of the car. This gorgeous 911 GT3 RS has more than a little visual impact with its searing Lava Orange paint contrasted with titanium-colored center-lock wheels and black leather seats stitched with Alcantara inserts. For modern driving excitement, this may be the best car that Stuttgart offers.
