“I’ve never driven such a gem before”, said Formula 1 driver Niki Lauda about the new E50 AMG. Indeed, this worthy successor to the 500 E which passed through the hands of the AMG tuning specialist before being acquired by Mercedes, became a subtle blend of luxury and sportiness. Its particular aerodynamics, luxurious finish and V8 producing 347 hp made this car very unique on the market, of which only 2,960 examples were produced. This particular example is exceptional, since it only had a mileage of 38,931 km at the time of our inspection!
Its manufacturer’s sheet indicates that it was ordered new by the Mercedes dealership in Wuppertal (Germany) in a sober “Adamantin Silver Metallic” colour, paired with a two-tone leather interior combining alpaga grey and slate grey. This beautiful E50 was then exported to Japan and it was in 2012 that a collector from Munich brought it back to Germany, as he was receptive to its European specifications. The car totaled 12,000 km at that time and since then, a file of invoices documented the regular increase in mileage. Its current owner located this example in 2019 after an extensive search and when its mileage was just over 25,000 km; since then, he’s used it and serviced it regularly.
A true milestone in the history between Mercedes and AMG, this rare E50 is equipped with numerous features, including a glass sunroof as well as heated front and rear seats; it is also one of the lowest mileage examples on the market. A future classic!
