Homologation special from the golden age of Touring Cars, owned by a British motor racing legend.
UK-supplied, right-hand drive 190E 2.5-16V presented in outstanding condition. Offered with two large box-files of history supporting the current mileage of c120,000. Presented in sparkling Astral Silver paintwork with virtually unmarked black leather interior. Owned in the 1990's by Stuart Graham, British motorsport legend, saloon car racer and a TT winner on two wheels and four. A great opportunity to own a fine example of a 'homologation special' from the golden age of Group A Touring Car racing. Offered here is a lovely UK supplied 190E 2.5-16v first registered on 17th September 1990.
Presenting beautifully in Astral Silver with a virtually unmarked black leather interior, it is clear to see that this example has been well looked after over the years. Accompanying the car are two lever-arch files full of history which detail the maintenance and care this car has received including a complete record of ownership. In the mid-90s, the Mercedes was owned by British motor racing legend, Stuart Graham, the only man to win an Isle of Man TT on two wheels and four. Forming part of a private collection of interesting sports cars owned by a highly respected client of Silverstone Auctions and only offered due to lack of use, this particular 190E performs as well as it looks.
In fact, the car belies the total mileage covered of 120,000. Documented within the paperwork was a speedometer change at c50,000 miles, the current reading is 64,165 and the original speedometer forms part of the sale. In summary, this is a great example of a 'homologation special' from the golden age of 'Group A' Touring Car racing. Motorsport enthusiasts world-wide have extremely fond memories of watching these mighty Mercedes-Benz racing saloons battle with the nimble BMW E30 M3 and powerful Ford Sierra Cosworths of the era making a great championship and exciting viewing.
